The Journey

What started as a simple thought — an idea for an alternative gratitude journal — soon turned into a journey of research, writing, design, branding, production and so much more. Bringing the journal to life meant navigating a lot of decisions around the concept and creatives, some more fun than others. Along the way, 15+ creators, including artists, designers, branding specialists, printers, and photographers helped bring the project to life. Sharing some of journey below.

Branding + Packaging

Thinking of a name, playing with logo ideas, to figuring out brand look and packaging aesthetics.

Concept + First Mocks

First sketches of the page layout and overtime iterations of the concept to include learning along with gratitude reflections.

About

Research + Writing

The longest and hardest part was all the research, writing and content curation – including gathering feedback from researchers. It truly was a lot, but also the most important part.

Visual Elements + Artwork

With a desire to have the interiors feel calming yet beautiful, there was a lot of experimenting with colors, leaves, flowers and spacing. The artwork in ‘postcards of life’ took a considerable amount of effort to visualize a feeling.

Design, Design + Design.

The layout of every single page has been obsessed over — from the fonts, placement of text and empty spacing, to the angle of the buds.

Paper, Fabric + Inks

The sampling process took a lot of time (and patience) to find and test several types of paper, fabrics and inks. There were many, many iterations here.

A Special Delivery

And then one day, a fedex truck arrived with boxes of joy. A very meaningful moment.
